Question & Answers - 4. Question
Question:
Dear Madam or Sir,
I was bitten by a tick, the tick was removed by an emergency doctor. I took two Doxycicline pills and I'll take one per day for a while. What else should I do? Is it too late for TBM vaccine?
I'm looking forward to getting your answer.
Best Regards,
P.
Answer:
Dear Madame,
Thank you for your request.
Normally in the U.K. ticks are not infected with the virus that causes tick-borne encephalitis (TBE), so you should not be afraid of that. Nethertheless we would highly recommend to go again to a specialist und check for the TBE-Virus in your blood.
If you travel to TBE endemic regions in Europe (please see endemic areas under: www.TBE-prevention.info >> News), then you should consider a vaccination upfront.
If you have further questions, don´t hesitate to contact us again.
Yours sincerely,
